Accelerating Maritime Progress: Findings from the Shipping and Ocean Health 2026 Report
SSI is excited to host the Q2 Community Webinar for the Marine Biodiversity and Ocean Health Breakthrough for International Shipping.

The webinar will feature an overview of major maritime developments to reduce negative ocean impacts, an introduction to the Shipping and Ocean Health 2026 report, and a discussion between maritime professionals about how the sector can continue to progress.

Marine Biodiversity & Ocean Health Breakthrough
The Marine Biodiversity and Ocean Health Breakthrough was launched at COP29 as the first sector-wide maritime initiative to integrate ocean health, ecosystem resilience, and decarbonisation into a single framework. This closed expert workshop brings together practitioners from across shipping, ocean conservation, finance, and policy to review progress against the Breakthrough Roadmap, test its ambitions, and agree priority actions for the period leading to COP32.
The session is an opportunity to celebrate what the sector has achieved, strengthen shared commitments, and ensure the Roadmap remains a credible and practical tool for collective action through to 2030.

Commercial Pathways to Transition
The commercial structures that shipping runs on were not designed for transition. Charter parties, broker incentives, newbuild specification windows, and financing terms: none of them naturally reward the decisions that decarbonisation requires. Some in the industry are finding ways through that. Most are not.
On 23 June in London, SSI brings together senior leaders from across the value chain to examine where the friction sits and what is actually working. SSI will present findings from its market intelligence programme, drawing on extensive engagement with shipyards, brokers, owners, charterers and technology providers across major maritime centres.
