SSI CEO Ellie Besley-Gould joined a panel in Manila to discuss the Code of Conduct's impact and how the industry has evolved in the five years since its publication.
The discussion included Francesca Fairbairn, Agnes Sulit-Enesio, and Director Augusto San Diego from the Philippines Department of Migrant Workers.
The panellists showcased how best practice in welfare and human rights is delivered in ways that benefit not only crew but also organisations, and it is now vital that we look at how to build better onboard experiences for all seafarers, not just those with the best in show.
With thanks to the Rafto Foundation, the Human Rights Institute for Human Rights and Business, the Philippines-Norway Business Council (PNBC), and Mintra Norwegian Training Centre.
